were presented lists of candidates for European Elections
6 and 7 June. Many women (three of which are at the head of the 5 lists
constituency), many persons not related to any party but
widespread expression of "civil society" on the left, some
local administrator, excellent outgoing MEPs (one of the present
and active, according to statistics, the European Parliament in Strasbourg),
few "people system" and the direct involvement of the President of the Region of Puglia Nichi Vendola
, the only candidate in all constituencies: these are
salient features of the lists.
Among the new characters should be reported without doubt the most significant:
Lisa Clark, a historic peace activist (leaders in the northwest), Giuliana Sgrena
, journalist of the Manifesto (leaders in the middle), Sergio Staino,
famous cartoonist of the Unit, the Bebo Storti comedian, writer
baby Pitzorno White, Michele Dalai, director of Linus,
Imma Battaglia, leader of the gay movement, Mauro Palma, President of
Committee for the Prevention of Torture, the Committee of Directors of
Treccani, Carlo Flamigni, known endocrinologist, the National Committee of Bioethics and
President of the Union of Atheists and Agnostics, rationalists, the consultant
Alessandro Bottoni,
Italian Pirate Party leader who is fighting for the freedom of the net, Simonetta Salacone,
headmaster from primary school which has left the Roman
protest anti-Gelmini.
The aim therefore is to overcome the barrier of 4%
and restore hope to a modern perspective of the Left, in Italy and Europe.
